Introducing Thee Psychotones by (The Barman - i94bar

As the name infers, this is acid punk-influenced rock, not from the American Midwest but Como, Italy, and good stuff it is, too. "Teenage Love Queen" is direct in its delivery, with some shredding guitar from Dr Evil (presumably no relation to the bad guy in Austin Powers). "You'll Never Understand" is more of a Nuggets rocker, riding along on the back of a strident engine room but pausing for breath before plunging into more Dr Evil fuzz work. JL Loser's vocals are a bit more plaintive on "Don't Wanna Be..." and it's a more groove-laden cut. These guys could be little brothers to the Cynics. Bring on more!

THEE PSYCHOTONES sind ein quintett aus como (italien), das dem NICOTINE RECORDS-stall angehört. daß sich die italiener in sachen punk rock und rock`n`roll vor niemandem verstecken müssen, haben über die jahre hinweg diverse bands schon hinlänglich bewiesen. eigentlich ja auch schon zwangsläufig, wenn man bedenkt, daß das land wie ein stiefel aussieht, der sich ideal dazu eignet, fremde ärsche zu treten. so wissen auch THEE PSYCHOTONES auf ihrer zweiten 7" mit 3 rotzigen 60s-garage-detroit-punk-rock-happen zu überzeugen. "don`t wanna be your fool" war mir schon vom label-sampler her bekannt und hatte mein interesse für die band geweckt, vor allem aufgrund des coolen gesangs. "teenage queen" und "you`ll never understand", die anderen beiden songs, wissen ebenfalls zu überzeugen.mehr als empfehlenswert, diese 7". hoffe, es kommt bald mal das debut-album raus.

A new independent micro reality, the Nicotine Records, overlooks the market pressing his firsts productions on 7”. Two bands with Italian passport, but with American sound and attitude. The first are the extraordinary Psychotones that in “Introducing” play three beautiful garage-punk tracks - “Don’ t Wanna Be Your Fool”, “Teenage Queen” and “You’ll Never Understand” – with an acid and quickly guitarism.
