Biography:
The web of spider - by Max Noce
"The web of spider" born in 2005. Let's
see how it all happened. In those days
I used to live with Jerry Cantrell
(voice and guitar for "Alice in chains")
and Chris Wyse("The Cult"),Whitey
and I had been friends for at least
8 years.One night we went to a
Motorhead's show at the Wiltern theatre on Wilshire Boulevard, in Los
Angeles,where everybody lives and dies.
Whitey and I, on the side of the stage, suddenly noticed Ronnie James Dio
behind us, so Whitey started calling him aloud, it was in that moment that I
saw Philthy, and I told Whitey with extreme enthusiasm since I've been a
Motorhead fan forever.
From that moment on a really interesting conversation started, it began with
the hand-reading that Philthy did to Whitey, and on he went talking about
hot water, and other innovations concerning Motorhead's behind the scenes
world.
We laughed all night and the three of us kind of felt cool with each other
right away, exchanged numbers and off we went.
Whitey played me a cd of his he did with collaborations with people like
Marky Ramone, I wanted to form a band and play live again and was looking to
get something going with him, meeting Philthy was the last missing piece falling into place like magic on its own to finally form a cool band.
We got our way! Here is the story so far.
Whitey used to live in a desolated abandoned building, where once there were offices, in Venice Beach, Philthy and Whitey started to jam, nothing too serious to start off with,it was
with my arrival that things started to get hot and exciting. For seven months without interruption we rehearsed from seven until two or
three in the morning, during breaks Whitey used to write,Philthy used to decorate the place
and I would catch up with my sleep deprived life.
Things went on like this until we decided to record something,Whitey planned for us to get some songs done at "Swinghouse" Studios in Hollywood, where he had guitars and amps 'cos that's where he reahersed with Iggy Pop.
We got into the "big room".The stage, the loud amps, excessive volumes, you feel excited, and wrapped in this wall of sound you get your adrenaline going.we recorded a handful of tracks and we printed a few copies, our first demo to see what kind of reaction we would get.
That's it, the buzz started to spread in Hollywood and we began to get attention.
Two months later, we recorded three more tracks in another studio.Once this was done we printed a few thousand copies of "demon-stration" cds
and gave them to friends and relatives for more feedback."We're not a fake band, this is about three true rock & roll guys with testicles so big and heavy that you'll have to have extra reinforcing stitching in the crotch area to keep it all in...
We play what we feel like playing...".
The Web of Spider are:
Philthy Animal Taylor, the amazing, the one and only Motorhead's drummer and
the most friendly guy I've ever met..( don't get him angry.).
Whitey Kirst, Iggy Pop's lead guitarist for the last 13 years or more, he
co-wrote with him at least 55 songs, well respected in the music world,
Whitey is a Rock'n'Roll icon, words that Iggy Pop told Steve Jones( "Sex
Pistols" ) during a radio show in Los Angeles, on Indie 103.1 fm.
Max, obviously I am the less famous of the three. I began playing classical
guitar when I was thirteen, then I moved to the bass, I thought: "Less
strings, easier to play.". I played sessions everywhere. Jaco my hero.
After living in London for 10 years, I moved to Los Angeles 11 years ago, in
1996. I played with many different bands, small and big, I met a lot of
musicians and I became friends with most of them.
I've got another band called "BordellofGods", my personal project, in which
I write lyrics and music, I play all the instruments and I am the producer,
with a different approach, maybe more modern, compared with "The web of
spider".
This is a classic line during a rehearsal in Venice Beach
I:"I think I've got a bottle of tequila in my trunk...",Philthy:"Have you got something to mix with it?" and I :"What do you mean MIX IT???".
Does this look infected?
