In 2001 Tommy and Ecki Ramöne founded Hamburg Ramönes on account of a wedding party. the original lineup consisted of Tommy on vocals, Ecki on guitar as well as Axel 'Winnetou' Ramöne on bass and Hansi Ramöne on drums. The band played Ramones covers only in the beginning - as they all do - but Tommy and Ecki soon realised that it is much more fun to include self penned new Ramones-like songs into the z-list. Up until 2006 “Ham Ram” played several concerts in Germany and Europe and they released a much acclaimed debut album called "Free Phil Spector" in fall 2005.
In 2007 Axel and Hansi Ramöne left and Tommy and Ecki decided to take a step forward. They teamed up with Jenzzi Ramöne (aka Jens Gallmeyer, former member of German underground legends PHOSPHOR and DER MODERNE MAN and present member of GIGANTOR, TERRY HOAX and BLUT+EISEN) on bass/guitar. Together with Jenzzzi, Tommy and Ecki immediately started to write new material for their second album. They soon recruited Marky Ramöne (aka Marky Honk, formerly hitting hard for ROTZKOTZ and the HONX) on drums and in May 2007 the now completed new lineup started to record 13 new songs for the new album "Long Black Hair" with Jens Gallmeyer as producer.
