Cowboy Prostitutes is a concept; it’s the rock’n’roll life stile described in two words : dirty and wild like cowboys and ready to do anything for music like a whore! The idea came up to guitarist Anders Wickström (born and raised in Sweden) long before actually starting the band. He’d been toying with the thought of starting the ultimate Rock group for quite a few years when he met bassist/vocalist Luca Isabelle who had just arrived in Sweden after many years spent trying his luck in London.
The two really found each other and started writing songs together following their influences (Mötley Crue, KISS, Mötorhead) without really giving a shit of what was fashionable. It was obvious that those tunes where aces and so, after only two months playing together, they decided to record their first demo “Take no shit”.
For a few months after that the band had tried different drummers but it was only when they came across the raw power of Pistolper that Cowboy Prostitutes really took the asskicking shape always wanted.
From then on things started going right and a few weeks after the sound of the band was completed by the addiction to the line up of keyboard player Andreas Strömbäck who has made every single song sound more like an hit than ever before.
Once realised the energy was finally there the band entered the studio to record their first single “Over the top” which was released by the group itself in the beginning of the year 2004. The single brought the band to the attention of the media getting some great reviews and helping closing a deal with the American label Retrospect Records for the distribution of the first full length album, the self titled “Cowboy Prostitutes”.
About a month before entering the recording studio, the band involved guitarist Martin Wilhelmsson in the writing process of the some of the new songs. It then became clear that the band was in need of a second guitarist and Martin, who rapidly became a good friend of the band, was asked to record the album and become a full member of the group. He accepted and joined the “Prostitutes” bringing not only some great riffs but adding some more fuel to their Rock n' Roll fire.
And the story goes on…
And the story did go on indeed. Cowboy Prostitutes have been in all sorts of adventures, fighting with their label which they ultimately told to stick it, losing two members (Anders Wickström and Martin Wilhelmsson) and acquiring two new ones (guitarists Tobbe Johansson and Simon Solomon) and mainly playing incendiary shows through Sweden and Europe. A new album is being written and a 3 song demo (“New Bullets”) is being mixed and will be ready for the end of January 2006. But this time there won’t be no more silly small labels without the guts to support and promote Cowboy Prostitutes as they should; this time the band is going for the kill and won’t take no for an answer: “the more doors will shut in our faces the more we’ll kick to the ground” says singer Luca Isabelle. So wait and see…
