The Mochines are a high-voltage rock'n'roll trio from Cape Town, South Africa that deliver a heroic dose of old-school ferocity. They have a fast, raw and retro sound that conjures the demons of punk rock’s past. The boys have been decimating South African eardrums since the 2005 release of their debut album, Hire the Losers, which sparked interest from as far abroad as Europe.
Before they voyaged abroad for their first European tour the band underwent a lineup change. Founding members Ross “Dirty Sanchez” Kersten (guitar/vocals) and Patrick “King Kong” Magee (drums) recruited Stefan De Witt to play bass. Ross, an American who moved to South Africa in 2004, tracked Patrick down in the classifieds and the band was established. Back in the USA Ross fronted the powerhouse rock outfit, The LaDonnas, who toured with the New Bomb Turks and played with the likes of Dead Moon and The Murder City Devils. Among their three studio albums, which were released on Sub Pop subsidiary Scooch Pooch Records and Epitaph Europe, 1998’s Rock You All Night Long earned them rock‘n’roll kudos.
