Biography
Urban Waste emerged as a hardcore/punk band from Astoria, Queens in 1981. The band played their first show in February 1982 at the A7 club in NYC’s Lower East Side. Urban Waste recorded their one and only 7” EP in the same year which included 8 songs on Mobstyle/Wasteland productions. Famous for their defiance of not conforming to society’s ways, the band played whenever and wherever they could in New York City. Urban Waste also went on an east coast tour in 1984. Urban Waste shared the stage with almost every NYHC band that came out of the 1982-1984 era which included Murphy’s Law, Agnostic Front, The Beastie Boys, The Mob, and Reagan Youth. At the height of the band’s success, Urban Waste broke up in 1985. In 2002, Urban Waste hit the stage once again with new singer Zac Stough and bass player Tony Ricci. This reunion turned out to be a short lived fun experience. Six years went by before the band reunited again in 2008. This time with three of the original members: vocalist Kenny Ahrens, guitarist Johnny Waste and drummer John Dancy. The band is currently booking shows and writing new material for 2009 and hopes to be touring soon. Urban Waste would like to thank everyone for their support and to all the bands that help keep hardcore alive.

It's been nearly 30 years since Urban Waste played its first show at the A7 Club, and 25 years since they last played together onstage. With most of the original line-up intact, Kenny Ahrens, Johnny Waste and John Dancy, along with new bass player Sonny Baron pick up where they left off in '84. Not a lot has changed… different President, different war, same greed, corruption and exploitation of the vulnerable plague the planet. RECYCLED is Urban Waste's long overdue 2nd studio album. Along with producer Paul Kostabi (Youth Gone Mad, Hammerbrain, Psychotica, Dee Dee Ramone), the band jumps head first into the digital age with 18 brand new anthems to inspire the next generation of hardcore. They shared the stage with The Beastie Boys, Agnostic Front, Murphys Law Minor Threat, Reagan Youth.
